– July 5 Exhibition How Small Things Hold at Jing Jai Gallery – exhibition by Jiratchaya Pripwai - Drawing from the quiet rhythms of her garden, the exhibition brings together Jiratchaya’s earlier abstract works alongside new pieces that expand her practice into more experimental connections. Through close observation of often-overlooked elements—veins of leaves, shifting colours of flowers, cycles of growth and decay—her work reflects on how fragile, ephemeral moments can quietly hold memory, emotion, and meaning. AFTERIMAGES Hong Kong Independent Showcase at Media art & Design – 7pm until 10pm - For decades, the global perception of Hong Kong cinema has been monopolized by a heavy nostalgia for the "Golden Age." This narrative is built upon the cult of the auteur—the rhythmic action of John Woo, the neon-soaked pining of Wong Kar-wai, and the calculated power dynamics of Johnnie To. While this framework constructed a glorious history of industrial success, it inadvertently masked the tectonic shifts occurring beneath the surface. This "Golden Age" was an era of colonial twilight, where the city’s identity was forged in the heat of commercial fire. https://www.facebook.com/events/1696971767939619/

The Cagebirds at The Fellowship Café – 4pm and 7pm each day - a captivating play by David Campton, directed by the talented Claire Gordon. First performed in 1978. It explores themes of freedom, control, and individuality. The action takes place in a single setting — a room where several women, each representing different human characteristics, live under the control of the Mistress. Their lives are disrupted by the arrival of the Wild One, who challenges their confinement. The play becomes a study of conformity, manipulation, and the cost of liberation. Themes that are explored by director Claire Gordon and her cast of 8 women in this production nearly 50 years on. Now in a world where social media, AI and the fight to belong and exist continue to be a challenge that enforces a metaphorical cage that can keep women trapped in their own self induced isolation. Sometimes it's easier to close the door and lock yourself away from the world outside because the cost of freedom seems too great. This short play where 7 women appears caged by the ominous Mistress will be stage in March for International Women's day as a statement to call to attention the challenges still faced by many women today. Tickets are available here https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/the-cagebirds
